Congratulations to our 2009 PMI Space Coast FL Chapter Awards Winners!
In 2009, we initiated an Awards Program to recognize and honor fellow PMI Space Coast Members who have excelled in the Project Management field. During our December 14th Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Ceremony, we recognized the following individuals:
2009 Project Manager of the Year - Small Project
Kristi Fox, PMP
2009 Project Manager of the Year - Large Project
Michael Olka
2009 Volunteer of the Year
Larry Peck
Kristi Fox, a Harris Project Manager, demonstrated outstanding leadership while managing the roll-out of the division Oracle Financials Consolidation which significantly reduced the monthly closing efforts. The project team includes 41 people on four different continents and seven different countries with a total budget of $1.7M. Kristi is very proactive and provides quick follow-up on issues while maintaining clear business oriented communications with Harris Division team members. Her "do what it takes to make the project successful" attitude generates a strong working relationship between the team members, customers and the other project teams. Her accomplishments and character merited the 2009 Project Manager of the Year - Small Project award.
Michael Olka, the 2009 Project Manager of the Year - Large Project winner and United Space Alliance Project Manager, led the Flame Trench Repair Project. The technical and communication efforts for this project were enormous as the engineering effort was unprecedented and the team consisted of multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally. Further exacerbating the issue was the need to maintain the Shuttle Launch schedule. Michael's leadership enabled the project to be completed on schedule and 11% under budget. This was accomplished due to the immediate resolution of problems, extremely good communications, and a can do attitude of all team members under Michael's guidance.
Larry Peck, also a Project Manager with United Space Alliance, is our 2009 Volunteer of the Year. This past year, Larry served as the Community Activities Director for the United Space Alliance Leadership Association (USALA). He coordinated volunteer efforts throughout the community, including programs that supported the Brevard Humane Society, Crosswinds Youth Services, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and visits to area Nursing Homes. Larry also volunteered his own time to coordinate the creation of a PMP prep class for USALA members.
Please join me in congratulating these well-deserving award winners, as well as all of those who were nominated for these awards. I would also like to thank those who submitted nominations for taking the time to recognize your fellow PMI Space Coast FL Chapter members.
