Happy New Year!  Words cannot describe how excited I am for the PMI Space Coast FL Chapter in 2010.  We have just concluded our first Board meeting of the year and we are very committed to making this our best year ever. 

As we developed our 2010 objectives, there was one common theme:  MORE.

It is our goal to offer MORE PDU opportunities, MORE networking events, MORE high caliber speakers, MORE volunteer opportunities, MORE community outreach, MORE resources through our website, MORE collaboration with Region 14 Chapters, and MORE tools to connect with your fellow members than ever before.  

It is a fair question to ask how we plan to meet these objectives.  Here are some examples:

• Bring in nationally recognized speakers for each Chapter meeting, starting with Rick Morris for our February 8^th Dinner.
• Create an Executive Advisory Board, made up of senior managers from local companies to review our strategic plan and offer insight to meet emerging trends and needs.
• Launch an initiative with the Brevard County School System to promote project management skills to our youth
• Increase Virtual engagement with members through an improved Chapter website and other social networking sites
• Collaborate with other Florida-based PMI chapters, as well as local professional organizations to share professional development opportunities, career transition information, and provide a new avenue to expand our members' networking horizon

Although these are lofty goals, I believe we can attain them.  However, we are going to need your help.  I encourage everyone to Get Involved.    There are ample opportunities to volunteer; we are currently seeking Directors who can contribute talent to our organization and play an integral role in our success.  The available positions and descriptions will be posted on the website.

Looking forward to our February 8^th Chapter Dinner Event, Rick Morris, an accomplished project manager and public speaker, will be providing the Keynote Address: "Turning Around a Failing Project".   Rick is highly acclaimed, thoroughly engaging, and extremely passionate about project management.   I'm hoping for a record turnout!  Registration is available through the website.

We are starting off this decade with a bang and plan to continue the momentum throughout the year!  As always, please feel free to contact any of our Board members with questions, comments, and recommendations to continuously improve the services we provide to our organization.
