Lean Process Engineer-Operational Excellence, Partially Remote  -  060774

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by serving as an internal champion for the deployment and promotion of Lean methodology within the Health First organization.

As part of the Operational Excellence team, the Lean Process Engineer is focused on driving and improving operational processes across the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) through data and trend analysis, waste identification, and leading improvement initiatives.

Additionally, the Lean Process Engineer will identify, create and deliver Lean training to the organization based on needs and gaps

This position is a remote role with the requirement of coming onsite as needed. The Lean Process Engineer must live in Florida.


  • Collaborates with executive champions, process owners and improvement teams to drive process change
  • Facilitates, guides and supports multiple IDN, departmental or cross-functional improvement initiatives at the same time
  • Perform data and trend analysis and provide information to improvement teams
  • Identify opportunities and gaps for improvements through workflow and efficiency assessments
  • Tracks, monitors and reports regularly on project status, initiative sustainability, and project savings
  • Creates and communicates formal presentations of project work and recommendations
  • Gathers, defines, and documents process flows, project requirements, and base line data for improvement initiatives
  • Train associates on analytical tools and Lean techniques, provide guidance and coaching to work teams
Quality/No Harm:
  • Works closely with executive champions and work teams to reduce process variation and increase positive outcomes
  • Contributes to the development and promotion of standard work across the organization
  • Develops detailed action plans and tracks and reports progress to key stakeholders
  • Identifies key Lean training gaps and works closely with other OpEx associates to develop material to address gaps
  • Directs and implements Lean initiatives and strategies to optimize operational performance, productivity, and profitability by reducing or eliminating waste within the organization
  • Assist Sr. Lean Process Engineers in facilitating large scale IDN wide Lean initiatives
  • Act as a change agent to drive adoption of the Lean culture for Health First
  • Establish sound process improvement initiatives that drive year over year improvement, as well as streamline and optimize day-to-day operations
Customer Experience:
  • Serves as a role model and champion of Lean in order to recruit and develop future lean coaches & facilitators
  • Compares results against expected performance objectives and develops action plans to address gaps
  • Leverage best practices gained through process improvement activities to other activities which would benefit from implementation
  • Support the development, prioritization and execution of operational improvement projects utilizing Lean/Six Sigma, PDCA, or similar methodologies for all process improvements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or other related 4 year degree program with a minimum of 3 years of applicable experience OR
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or other accredited Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 year of applicable experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required
  • Effective skill communicating with all levels within an organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including (Visio)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently in a challenging environment; demonstrate flexibility with changing requirements and quickly adapts to changing priorities, activities, and deadlines
  • Experience in acute healthcare setting a plus
  • Must be in good physical condition and without assistance must be able to lift, move or push equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to sit for two hours or more before a computer and concentrate on complex projects
  • Able to travel to any work location within Health First on short notice
  • Must create a positive, enabling work environment
  • Must be able to manage multiple complex projects to successful completion through positive collaboration with the leadership team, physicians and associates
  • Must have strong interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
