Thursday, 25 February 2021 A Message from our Chapter PresidentDear PMI Space Coast Members. I hope you continue to be well and safe as the Space Coast begins to reopen. As a reminder, PMI continues to support its practitioners and members in this time of disruption. As part of this commitment, PMI has instituted a Membership Hardship Policy - Unemployed Members with 3 years of good standing membership are qualified for membership hardship grant by calling PMI Customer Care. Our next Virtual Happy Hour is June 18th at 6:00 and we are looking forward to playing a really fun online trivia game called Kahoot. We are also happy to announce our Quarterly Virtual Dinner event "Leadership So You Can Sleep at Night" on June 4th at 6:00 PM. We are honored to have him join us. Please plan to attend this great event and earn 1 Leadership PDU. Thank you to Jana Jenkins for delivering our May Interactive Webinar: "Hoshin Kanri - A Lean Strategy Planning Tool". Virtual Quarterly Dinner Event: Leadership So You Can Sleep at Night Presented by Captain Flip Capistrano, U.S. Coast Guard Military Attaché to Brazil June 4th at 6:00 PM, 1 Leadership PDU A healthy and productive tomorrow is often dependent on a good night’s sleep. As a leader, the decisions you make during the day can greatly impact the evening’s restful slumber, putting your tomorrow in jeopardy. After over 25 years as a Coast Guard officer, CAPT Capistrano has learned a thing or two about making those tough, moral, and ethical decisions and how to ensure they don’t keep you tossing and turning all night. In this virtual keynote, CAPT Capistrano illustrates how he’s attained this capability by sharing his leadership experiences and anecdotes from his time driving cutters, conducting counter-drug operations, flying Search and Rescue missions, instructing pilots, building Coast Guard aviation strategies, and strengthening international partnerships. From a Coast Guard Academy Cadet to an advisor at an American Embassy, he has learned to adjust his “leadership view” to meet new levels of challenge. CAPT Capistrano defines guidelines founded on three tenets; Know Your Job, Know Your People, and Know Yourself, and describes how it can be applied to leadership opportunities at your workplace, at home, or in your community. At the end of the day, every decision you make impacts lives around you. Most to a minor extent, but some with major consequences. Are you confident you’ve made the right decision, and will it let you sleep peacefully tonight?
