Can you believe we are already in the second quarter of 2021? So much has happened already. I would like to say thank you and congratulations to Rhonda Jones for stepping into the role of COO and Elease Jones for stepping into the role of VP of Development. If being a part of our board interests you, please reach out. We are always looking for motivated individuals who want to serve and contribute to the PMI community.
In March, our VP of Membership, Tommy Wright sent out a “2021 Return to Normal Operations Survey.” Although many have found the virtual events offered during this pandemic have been good, and sometimes preferred, the PMISCF Chapter Executive Board would like to know how the chapter membership feels about returning to face-to-face events, possibly during the second quarter 2021. Make your voice count! Pease respond if you haven’t done so already.
We also hosted an evening webinar with Dr. Jonathan Reed in which he reviewed what’s new in the PMBOK (7th Edition) and the PMP Exam. I hope you were able to attend and found it informative. This was a great opening for our upcoming PMP LIVE BOOTCAMP (VIRTUAL CLASSROOM). Classes will be held on 5 consecutive Saturdays between April 10 and May 8 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST. Please be sure to register. See below for links.
As a reminder, we have launched our exciting new MentorshipProgram. Our website provides an opportunity for all members to request a mentor or to volunteer to become a mentor. We have had many applicants ask to be mentored and fewer to be mentors, so please consider becoming a mentor. You can earn PDUs in both cases. Please click herefor more information about this great program. If you have questions about this program, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We always welcome the opportunity to support our members who are willing deliver presentations and webinars so please let us know if you are interested in either opportunity.
Don’t wait until the last minute, earn 1 PDU now! Every month we will include a Webinar Spotlight to direct you to webinar content that we think is specifically relevant to the Space Coast and that you can access free of charge.
With the move online, we could just begrudgingly endure the meetings and emails. Or, we could honor diverse voices, build trust, inspire team cohesion, and drive astonishing impact. When we move from in-person work to virtual (or hybrid) work, our communication frequency, structure, participation, and even content change. At worst, we risk propagating unconscious bias. More benignly, we risk wasting time in misunderstandings, false-agreement, or rework. To address this, the Four Discussion Disciplines (4DDs - integrity, courtesy, inclusion and translation) are practices that teams can use on email, in meetings, or in posts. In this session Katrina Pugh (Columbia University, New York, NY) and Chivonne Algeo (Monash University, Melbourne, Australia) will discuss how to lead the 4DDs with your teams and across your organization. You will improve your team’s capacity for meaning-making and relationship-building.
Getting Under the Hood of the PMBOK® Guide – Seventh Edition
PMI is making changes to both the Standard for Project Management and A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) to reflect the range of different project approaches and your need for flexibility. We’ve heard questions about how the 12 principles evolved for the Standard for Project Management and how we developed the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge. We’re here to answer them. Join this webinar to see how PMI staff pulled together a global team of volunteer subject matter experts to develop the forthcoming edition of the PMBOK® Guide and The Standard for Project Management. Click here to view this informative webinar. Please note that no PDUs will be awarded for this session.
