Suzanne Short, PMP!

Suzanne Short, PMP, started her journey with the USAF with a Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) scholarship to study Aeronautical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Upon graduation, she was commissioned in the USAF as a Second Lieutenant.
Suzanne was stationed at Robins AFB as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. She worked first with KC-135s and then C-5s. At the time, the USAF had a group of engineers participate in a career broadening program as their first assignment. The concept was to have members of the acquisition corps gain operational experience understanding the user’s perspective before working on new development programs. She was also in charge of over 100 personnel and learned about balancing the needs of the mission with the needs of the people.
Her second assignment was as a Flight Test Engineer for JSTARS. This assignment brought her to the Space Coast. It also exposed her to requirements development, Earned Value Management, and development life cycle management.
Suzanne now leverages her knowledge as a consultant at Catania Enterprises supporting companies with Project Management and Engineering needs.

The Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program is an innovative 12-week program that provides transitioning service members with management training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development offered throughout the program prepares fellows for a smooth transition into meaningful civilian careers.
The Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Fellowship Program (MSFP) is a cutting-edge initiative that provides military spouses with professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development and direct connection to local employers offered through the 6-week program enable military spouses to quickly build their networks and gain localized job experience.
Fellowship candidates are carefully matched with participating companies based on the specific skills of the candidate and the preferences of both parties. Once matched with a host company, candidates undergo exclusive on-the-job training at their host company, gaining firsthand experience in the private sector. This real-world experience is augmented by weekly educational sessions for the cohort, held in a classroom setting.
Through HOH events and programs, more than half a million veterans and military spouses have found employment. Currently, more than 4,000 service members have completed fellowships with more than 200 host companies. The current post fellowship job offer rate is 83% and veterans are earning an average starting salary of $104,000.
