Our first veteran spotlight this month is Lt. Aubrey Duty-Tyson!

Thank you for your service!!

vetspotlight.jpgLieutenant Aubrey Duty-Tyson is an operations team leader (Deputy Flight Commander of Operations) at the 45th Space Communications Squadron on Patrick Space Force Base.  Aubrey is a 2018 graduate from the United States Air Force Academy where he played 4 years of collegiate football.  In 2019 he deployed to Al Udied Air Base, Qatar for a year and while he was there he studied for his PMP and passed the test in 2020.

As a team leader he oversees defensive cyber operations ensuring mitigation of critical vulnerabilities on a $120 million network supporting the local launch range network.  Aubrey is responsible for operations in five work centers ensuring network and technical infrastructure is available to support national security and commercial space launch missions.

On a recent project to restore and upgrade the 45th Space Wing’s virtual private network he was responsible for leading a team of active duty, government civilian and contract system administrators to overcome technical challenges while mitigating operational impacts to the space launch mission.  Lt Duty-Tyson ensured that deliverables were on-time and that the Wing’s mission was not impacted.  His servant leadership style came through to his team clearly as he worked through conflict, removed administrative roadblocks for the team and managed risk positions leading to a successful transition to cloud services and upgraded virtual private network access to over 2,000 client computers with zero loss in range launch capabilities.

Lt Aubrey’s project management skills were put to test during this project.  His leadership and understanding of PM tools and processes ensured that he was successful and that the 45th Space Wing mission was more resilient than ever.
