PMI Space Coast Veteran Spotlight (Week 2)

Our Veteran spotlight this week is

Lieutenant Colonel Jason Havel, USAF, Retired!

Thank you for your service!!

Lieutenant Colonel Jason Havel, USAF, Ret. is well established in his post-Air Force career in the field of project and program management. Since retiring in 2018, he has worked at a traditional small business in the themed entertainment industry, a start-up in the space-launch industry, a large defense contractor and manufacturer, and an Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). In some cases, he was working two jobs at the same time purely due to personal interest in both companies. Jason remarks that “Being put in a variety of positions in a short amount of time is often times uncomfortable but also very rewarding. In many ways veterans are able to draw parallels between project management in industry and our military service. Having a positive attitude to figure out tough problems is a universal competency that makes us successful anywhere.”

In his current position, Jason is the Vice President for Strategy and Business Development at Alluvionic, a Melbourne Florida based EDWOSB. He is directly responsible for fostering relationships with new and existing customers to understand their needs and explore opportunities for Alluvionic to offer assistance and add value to that customer. “I enjoy the opportunity to build teams of industry partners to jointly present a complete solution to a government or non-government customer. It’s the old adage that success lies at the intersection of preparation and opportunity. In my current position, I have ability to affect both axes of the graph.”

Alluvionic has had a recent string of successes with the US Navy and US Space Force. Through the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic, Alluvionic has a prototype engineering, build, and test contract for a submarine specific communications subsystem. Through the Headquarters Naval Facilities Command, Alluvionic has 5-year contract to provide training and augmentation support to the Command’s Project Management Office. Finally, through Patrick Space Force Base, Alluvionic was able to use their mastery of COTS Smartsheet software to help the 45th Space Launch Delta with an Eastern Range process improvement event. According to Jason, “Our workforce is approximately 20% veterans. I think I speak for all of us when I say how proud and excited we are to be in positions to continually give back to our nation’s warfighters.”
