Portfolio Growth: How the BBP Method Turned a Yoga Connection into a Brand Collaboration
That is exactly how the collaboration between @yourvidabela and @NeverOffSchedule came together.
What started as a conversation between two founders at a conference has evolved into a new athleisure, yoga, and digital-content portfolio addition—and it provides a practical example of how project management principles can be applied to brand development.
🤝 The Collaboration: Two Founders, One Opportunity
The collaboration began when Moses Maxi, PMP, founder of NeverOffSchedule (NOS), and Bela Castro, founder of @yourvidabela, were attending the same conference.
Rather than approaching the relationship as a traditional sales conversation, we discussed our respective interests in yoga, wellness, community, content, and brand development.
During the conversation, I showed Bela one of my soft-top sustainable yoga mats.
That simple product demonstration became the catalyst for a much larger idea.
We recognized an opportunity to combine:
- 🧘🏿♀️ Yoga and wellness
- 👕 Sustainable athleisure
- 🎥 Digital content
- 🌱 Community building
- 🤝 Founder-to-founder collaboration
- 📈 Portfolio expansion
The deal was made from a conversation—but the opportunity required project management to turn the conversation into something scalable.
📊 Applying the BBP Method
I scheduled and structured the opportunity using my BBP Method:
B — Business Case
Why should the collaboration exist?
The business case was centered around creating complementary value for both brands through apparel, yoga experiences, content, and audience development.
B — Benefits Management Plan
What benefits should the collaboration produce?
The intended benefits included:
- New athleisure products
- Increased brand visibility
- Yoga-community engagement
- New content opportunities
- Audience growth
- Cross-promotion
- Additional revenue opportunities
- Long-term portfolio expansion
P — Project Charter
How do we actually move the idea forward?
The collaboration could then be translated into tangible deliverables, responsibilities, timelines, content initiatives, and future product opportunities.
This is where I see the BBP Method becoming particularly useful for entrepreneurs.
You don't need to wait for a million-dollar corporation to use project management. A two-person brand collaboration can benefit from the same discipline.
👚 Designing the Three-Piece Product Portfolio
The first major product concept is a three-piece yoga/athleisure set:
1. Sports Bra
A functional athletic top designed for yoga, training, and wellness activities.
2. Matching Shorts
A coordinated bottom designed to create a complete visual identity with the sports bra.
3. Accessory
The third component creates flexibility within the portfolio.
Potential options include:
🧘🏿♀️ A sustainable yoga mat
or
🎒 A branded fanny pack
This creates a simple but powerful portfolio architecture:
Apparel + Apparel + Lifestyle Accessory
Instead of selling one isolated product, we're developing a coordinated customer experience.
🧘🏿♀️ From Product Idea to Real-World Community
The collaboration continued to develop beyond the initial conversation.
Over time, Bela put on several yoga retreats with approximately 20–30 attendees, creating an important real-world community around the wellness brand.
That matters from a project-management perspective.
A product concept becomes much stronger when there is already an identifiable community that can:
Experience → Test → Provide feedback → Share → Purchase → Advocate
The retreats provided an environment where the brand could connect with people in a meaningful setting rather than relying exclusively on traditional advertising.
The collaboration therefore began developing on two complementary tracks:
Physical products + experiential wellness
🎥 Taking the Portfolio Digital
Recently, Bela and I got back together on a Microsoft Teams call to discuss where the collaboration could go next.
The conversation expanded beyond physical products.
We decided to increase our focus on YouTube content, creating opportunities to showcase yoga, wellness, products, personalities, and the broader story behind the collaboration.
This creates another layer in the portfolio:
Physical Portfolio
Sports bra → Matching shorts → Yoga mat/fanny pack
Experience Portfolio
Yoga retreats → Classes → Community
Digital Portfolio
YouTube → Educational content → Product promotion → Audience growth
Now the collaboration is no longer simply an apparel project.
It has become a portfolio.
🚀 The Project Management Lesson
One of the biggest lessons from this collaboration is that portfolio development doesn't always begin with a formal business plan.
Sometimes it begins with:
A conference.
A conversation.
A product demonstration.
A shared interest.
And two founders recognizing an opportunity.
Project management provides the structure necessary to transform that opportunity into measurable outcomes.
The BBP Method helped me think through the collaboration from three perspectives:
Business Case → Benefits → Project Execution
And as the relationship evolved, the portfolio evolved with it.
What began with a sustainable yoga mat conversation eventually became:
🤝 Brand collaboration → 🧘🏿♀️ Yoga retreats → 👚 Product development → 🎥 YouTube content → 📈 Portfolio expansion
🌱 From One Product to a Growing Brand Ecosystem
The most exciting part is that the three-piece set may only be the beginning.
Future opportunities could include:
- Additional sustainable apparel
- Yoga mats
- Fanny packs and accessories
- Virtual yoga classes
- YouTube series
- Retreat merchandise
- Brand sponsorships
- Wellness partnerships
- Digital products
- Community experiences
This demonstrates an important principle of modern project and portfolio management:
A successful project can become the seed for an entirely new portfolio.
The objective isn't simply to deliver the product.
The objective is to create repeatable value.
🏆 Final Thought
My collaboration with @yourvidabela is a reminder that project management isn't confined to construction sites, IT implementations, or large corporate transformations.
It can happen at a conference.
It can happen over a yoga mat.
It can happen between two founders who see a common opportunity.
And when that opportunity is structured through a Business Case, Benefits Management Plan, and Project Charter, a simple conversation can become something much larger.
The result: a thriving new portfolio addition built around wellness, sustainable athleisure, community, and digital content.
That's the power of combining entrepreneurship + project management + portfolio thinking.
