Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Kiran Viswanatha
If you ever find yourself sitting next to Kiran at one of our networking events, don't be surprised if the conversation turns from Artificial Intelligence...to stand-up comedy.
Yes, really.
While many know Kiran for his thoughtful articles on AI, governance, and project leadership, away from the keyboard he's equally passionate about traveling, relaxing at the beach, and making people laugh.
In fact, he jokes that volunteering with PMI Space Coast taught him something unexpected:
"Project managers can solve world problems, lead major initiatives...and still laugh at my stand-up jokes. Proof that both risk management and comedy depend on good timing!"
That sense of humor is one of the many things that makes Kiran such a valued member of our Communications Team.
When asked why he volunteers, his answer wasn't about building a résumé or expanding credentials.
It was about community.
He believes the future of project management lives where leadership, innovation, and people come together—and volunteering is one of the best ways to be part of shaping that future.
Along the way, he's learned another lesson that applies both to project management and comedy:
The best ideas usually come from listening.
Listening to teammates.
Listening to different perspectives.
Knowing when to adapt.
And sometimes...knowing exactly when to deliver the right message.
For anyone thinking about volunteering, Kiran offers simple advice:
"Don't think of volunteering as giving your time. Think of it as investing in yourself. You'll grow professionally, expand your network, develop new skills, and become part of an incredible community."
We're grateful for everything Kiran brings to PMI Space Coast and are thrilled to recognize him as the first volunteer in our new Spotlight Series.
Thank you, Kiran!
