March 2024 Dinner Event: Project Management for Federal Program Managers (Continued)

Business Acumen

A continued exploration of Project Management for Federal Program Managers, building on insights from our Feb. Lunch & Learn with Eric Fielding. Eric delves deeper breaking down and discussing the main considerations and best practices when utilizing PMP practices for government project and program management. He will explain why the PMP framework is essential for government, and how it is slightly adjusted to align with government standards and regulations. He will detail how risk mitigation and scope management have a special emphasis because of the use of tax payer dollars. In addition, procurement management will be explained in detail for all those in attendance, so that procedures from the Federal Acquisitions Regulation (FAR) are understood and closely followed when projects are initiated, managed and closed-out. He will compare and contrast the FAC-PM government competency model with the competency model of the Project Management Institute. This hard hitting and informative presentation will show once and for all how project management in the federal sector is essential for effective management of public resources!
