Eric Fielding will provide an overview of key considerations and best practices for utilizing PMP in government project management. He’ll discuss the essential nature of the PMP framework for government, its alignment with standards, and adjustments for compliance.  He will briefly explain procurement management, following FAR procedures. Eric will compare FAC-PM government competency model with the Project Management Institute's. This presentation aims to highlight the vital role of federal project management in efficient management of public resources.

Eric Fielding, MBA, PMP, CPTD, is a seasoned Talent Development Expert and Project Manager with a 16-year career as a Senior Government Official. Holding certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Eric specializes in talent strategy, program management, organizational development, and performance consulting. His achievements include leading innovative training programs and earning a position on the Transportation Planning Organization Citizens Advisory Committee for Brevard County, showcasing his commitment to community involvement and strategic leadership. In his recent role as the Training Program Advisor at the National Transportation Safety Board in Washington DC, Eric managed diverse talent management solutions, overseeing 400+ training programs as a Contracting Officers Representative and project manager using proven PMP skills. He successfully transitioned the agency's talent development to a virtual format during the Covid pandemic and later to a hybrid teaching model for 30 programs. Eric's scholarly paper, "The National Transportation Safety Board: A Model for Systemic Risk Management," presented at the Journal of Investment Management (JOIM) conference, earned him the prestigious Harry M Markowitz Award. With an MBA from the University of Maryland and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Florida, Eric combines academic excellence with practical experience, making him a dynamic leader in talent development and project management.

The PMP prep session will provide a comprehensive overview of the PMP application process, exam content and domains, as well as proven strategies and resources to help attendees succeed on the test.
